In some countries, hypnotherapy colleges may choose to be associated with a voluntary organisation that registers lay hypnotherapists – in the UK, for instance, there is the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC). But, as the council tells me, none of these organisations can claim to be official regulatory bodies because "hypnotherapist" and "hypnotist" aren"t protected titles in the way "doctor" and "physiotherapist" are.
